Co-organized by North Bund Group, SHINE, Sustainability Talks, SwissCham China - Shanghai, Tsinghua Entrepreneur and Executive Club (TEEC), United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), and World in Sustainability, Water Circularity for Urban Environments brings together a vital coalition to address one of our most pressing, yet often overlooked, challenges.

While turning on a tap feels effortless, 75% of humanity already lives in water-insecure countries, and half of the world's large lakes have lost water since the 1990s. As energy crises dominate headlines, this looming water shortage is too often overlooked.

By joining us, you become part of the solution. Our forum will feature UN representatives, city sanitation officials, academics, corporate leaders, and startup innovators who will move beyond the problems to discuss actionable policy, current realities, and future solutions for urban water circularity.

虽然拧开水龙头看似轻而易举，但全球75%的人口已生活在水资源匮乏的国家，自1990年代以来，全球半数大型湖泊的水量都在减少。当能源危机占据头条新闻时，这场迫在眉睫的水资源短缺却常常被忽视。

Jennifer Liu, VP of Innovation & Sustainability at Sika

Jennifer is a materials scientist by background, having managed R&D efforts at Sika in concrete, cementitious materials, coatings, thermoplastics, and adhesives. She holds a Master's Degree in Materials Science from EPFL in Switzerland

Dr Zhou Lei, Co-Founder of DANology and Fellow of Royal Society of Arts

Dr Zhou Lei is involved in various design disciplines including space, theatre, graphic and art installations. He designed and convened the MSc in Prosperity, People and Planet for the Bartlett School of UCL in 2024-2025 which was dedicated to exploring the world of prosperity design embedded within the various contexts of Anthropocene 

Xiong Shidun, VP of the Water Branch of the Planning Institute of Shanghai Survey and Design Research Institute Co., Ltd., 

Xiong Shidun is a senior engineer, and a registered urban and rural planner. He holds a master's degree in ecology from East China Normal University and has nearly 20 years of experience in the field of water conservancy and ecological restoration planning and design. He previously worked at AECOM as the Vice Director of Ecological Environment Planning and Design.

Lee Parks, Executive Director, Landscape and Global Technical Practice Group Leader, AECOM. CMLI, International ASLA.

Lee Parks has over 25 years' experience in landscape planning and design with a focus on low-impact and inclusive designs that integrate nature-based solutions to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss. He is alumni of the University of Sheffield and teaching Fellow at Shanghai Jiaotong University. He was also International Practice Chair for ASLA's professional practice network from 2020-2025.

Sophia Slingerland, Cohost and Shine Ecological Technology Founder & Chairwoman

Sophia Slingerland is cohost of the forum and through SHINE, an active practitioner in bringing waterless sanitation solutions to an increasingly water reduced world. SHINE 

Yi Wang, Sales Manager at Hidrostal China

Yi Wang is a Sales Manager at Hidrostal China, a Swiss pump company specialized in wastewater handling. Based in Shanghai, she manages key accounts and project development across the municipal sector. Yi holds a double master's degree in Water Resources Engineering and Management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and has authored two academic publications on urban runoff water quality. 

Lucien Pang, Founder, GenNow Comms and Sustainability Talks

Forum cohost and founder of GenNow Comms, helping sustainability and impact driven clients communicate in China and abroad.
